Saturday, July 31, 2010 Silly Bandz Bracelets or Knock-Offs... Does it matter who makes them??What's with the craze for Silly Bandz Bracelets? I'm not quite sure, but I do know there are no social, demographic, economic, or age requirements when it comes to buying, wearing, or trading them. They are by far, one of the most affordable novelties we've seen, costing anywhere from a buck for a pack of knock off bracelets, to about $3 for the real Silly Bandz brand name. These stylish bracelets that are worn on your wrist (or ankle for that matter) come in an assortment of sizes and shapes and the sky's pretty much the limit when it comes to the design. You can find Silly Bandz Bracelets shaped like pets, zoo animals, sea creatures, dinosaurs, rockbandz, princess, western styles, and the list goes on and on. Silly Bandz Bracelets just started getting popular shortly before the release of summer vacation. Children started to sell and trade these little silicon bracelets with their friends. It was obvious to us the first time our 7 year old daughter went to school with a Unicorn Silly Bandz Bracelet on her wrist and came home with a Princess Castle bracelet! She now has a fantastic collection... but for some odd reason, she still yearns for the one she hasn't seen, or for the one she doesn't have yet. Whether they're Silly Bandz, Goofy Bands, Zany Bands, or a half dozen other makers that have capitalized on the millions being made off off silicon bracelets, kids ranging from 5 to 15 really don't care who makes them as long as they have a dozen of these cool bracelets on their wrists. My wife and I know this because we have asked a few kids at our church if they were original Silly Bandz Bracelets or the knock off brands and the kids had no idea. They were just happy to display them and you will rarely find a child wearing just one on their wrist or ankles. You'll find a massive clump of bandz that the kids are happy to display and show off. How popular are original Silly Bandz Bracelets right now? Every time we have gone to Walmart since the beginning of July, they have been sold out. You would think a supplier could keep up with the supply and demand of such a simplistic idea. I mean, what do you need to manufacture these things?... A mold and some silicon?? But obviously the magnitude of sales are definitely a direct representation of the lack of product. If I were you, I would snag up the original name brand Silly Bandz Bracelets now and put them on the shelf for Christmas. Because, when things are hard to get people will pay a premium. Just look at what happened with the Zhu Zhu Pet last year. They were originally $9, and ended up selling for over $50 a hamster during Christmas!! |
