Headline News in Taiwan...

Taiwan is a country which has a lot to be talked about. May it be the country’s cultural events, music, movies, technology or any other topic? Almost everything can make a headline in Taiwan.

Starting first from the art and leisure section, the latest news says that Taiwan’s National Symphony Orchestra’s artistic adviser Mr. Gunther Herbig is searching for a successor and for this he was seen taking class. This class had sixteen students participating from various countries namely Taiwan, United States, Canada, Singapore, China, Hong Kong and Canada. The winner is said to be chosen at an upcoming concert. The week starting from the 18th of April would be a celebrated week. This is because Gunther Herbig would perform his last two performances in this week which is scheduled on the 18th of April and on the 24th of April. Both these shows are due to be performed in Taipei’s National Concert Hall.

Next we shall move on to the environmental friendly practices being taken up in Taiwan. Here in Taipei, the city’s government has started opening many stations across the city which is not any ordinary stations, they are the recycling stations. These recycling stations would recycle those medications which are expired. These expired medications would be taken up from more than 200 hospitals, pharmacies, community centres, etc. this would finally lead to preventing of pollution in the environment because of the use of discarded medicines. A survey conducted proved that more than 60% of these unexpired drugs are thrown in trash and around 4 % expired drugs are flushed out while only around 16% of these expired drugs are recycled.

Moving on to the next section, . In this section the latest news says that a new department store would soon open up which is basically a department store of Banciao Station and is named as Global Station. This store would open in April. It would feature various restaurants even in the gourmet section. Chungho city is global Station’s sister mall while Global Mall is its parent mall. Global Station would be different because it would have a real big chain of its own which would consist of eight restaurants only in city from Taipei County, New Taipei City or Xinbei which would even include a Japanese style Niao-Lung Hong Kong and Torisho restaurant. Another inspired feature would be the take-out area. It would offer approximately hundred lunch boxes which would be comfortable for the on-the-go commuters.

This mall would be shortly joined by a Japanese sensational restaurant which is not only established in Ximending but also in Daan District, Happy Noodle Ramen. Another popular restaurant chain would even join the mall which is the Arnor Crepes. Arnor Crepes is one which is a top quality expert in making French desserts.

Another delicious news item would be about Ziga Zaga. Ziga Zaga would now offer a family-style cooking which would feature Italian menu with highlights of home-made and classic Italian flavours. Ziga Zaga is at Taipei’s Grand Hyatt. This chain is being encouraged because Italian food items appeal to a larger population here in Taiwan. This is because Italian food items offer various aromas, colours, textures and flavours to attract customers. That is not all. The new inclusions would only boost up its sales and would satisfy the customers just a bit more than usual. The new inclusion is the mama-and-papa style authentic Italian dish which is assumed to grab the likings of a big population here in Taiwan. One would be forced to think that which food item is not served by them. There is everything from meat to seafood, pastas to pizzas, and soups to desserts, everything in short.

Next headline is a bit sensitive as it relates to the children’s happiness. In a survey organised by Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), where a number of countries children were questioned and details were finalised. This study showed that children in Taiwan were last in the race for happiness out of a total number of 41 countries participating, as they on an average scored only 77.the happiness of children in Taiwan was termed as intermediate-levelled happy in this study. One would want to know as to what was the real cause behind this sadness of children. To this the President of CWLF, Joyce Yen Feng pointed out that children in Taiwan were affected mainly because of the child-parent relationship in the past few years. Most of the children here felt that they were being over-controlled and were limited in terms of their mental growth. The second important reason was again related to parents only. It was that when parents act carelessly, children go into depression and end up being lonely. Talking about their comfort zone to share information, only 65% children share things with their mothers and as far as fathers are considered, the %age drops to 50%.

In fact many other news items here in Taiwan go into making the breaking news articles such as causalities after being struck from an earthquake, reactions, etc. Many more headlines are made here in Taiwan every day.
